Film and music enthusiasts in the Zaan region are in for a treat. On Friday, November 5 and Saturday, November 6, the CineMusic orchestra presents Film Music Live in Concert. It is an ode to the epic film scores that have graced cinemas and television screens over the past decades. Film Music Live in Concert combines film with live music, and the Zaan audience at the Bullekerk will be the first to experience this spectacle.
Goosebumps
Film Music Live in Concert is a multimedia experience that stimulates the senses through a combination of light, image, and sound. A show like this has never been seen before in the Zaan region and is sure to give the audience goosebumps. The CineMusic orchestra performs no fewer than 20 well-known pieces, accompanied by film clips shown on a giant screen. Dream away to the music of Forrest Gump or Baantjer, enjoy the clashing swords of Pirates of the Caribbean and Saving Private Ryan, or be surprised by the cheerful tunes of the Pink Panther and Jungle Book. And that is just a small selection of the beauty CineMusic has to offer.
A dream come true
The creators of the live show are entrepreneur John van der Sluijs from Assendelft and pianist Ruud Luttikhuizen from Wormer. John: “The idea of making film music accessible to a larger audience was on my mind, and I found a partner in Ruud to start a professional orchestra for that purpose.” Ruud: “I recognized the idea immediately because of my piano students; they often ask me to help them study film music. That inspires me too. For example, the music of Ludovico Einaudi, featured in Intouchables, is very popular. For me, this is a dream come true.”
They decided to form an orchestra that doesn’t just play film music in the theater, but also shows the film clips simultaneously. In Henk Ummels, known for the Zaans Showorkest among others, they found the perfect and experienced conductor. He leads the 12-piece orchestra consisting of brass, percussion, piano, guitar, bass, violin, and keyboard. Henk: “When Ruud asked me, I thought: I have to grab this opportunity with both hands. This way, I can fully express my passion for music, and specifically film and musicals. With this concert, we are offering the Zaan audience something truly special.”
