What a season it was. Looking back on the 2025-2026 theater year, we see a succession of beautiful moments, milestones, and special encounters. Together with our audience, our musicians, all the staff working behind the scenes, and the theaters, we experienced a season we will never forget.
The Night of CineMusic
The season kicked off with an absolute highlight on September 12, 2025, at the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam with The Night of CineMusic. Not only did we celebrate René Mioch’s 40th anniversary there, but the CineMusic Rembrandt Award was also presented to Jeroen Krabbé for his entire body of work. All of this took place in a completely sold-out Main Hall of the Concertgebouw. A dream come true; not just for many of our musicians, but for the entire team.
Premiere at the Zaantheater
The Zaantheater in Zaandam also played an important role this season. In October, the official premiere of the new theater season took place at the Zaantheater. The concert show marked the start of our tour across Dutch theaters and was enthusiastically received by the audience.
Tribute to Willeke van Ammelrooy
What made it extra special was that we performed at the Zaantheater twice this season. This made Zaandam not only the location of our premiere but also the setting for one of the most emotional evenings of the year on April 24, 2026.
That evening, Willeke van Ammelrooy was in the spotlight. Shortly after she received a Royal decoration for her great contributions to the Dutch film and culture sector, we had the honor of celebrating her during our CineMusic concert show. Together with the audience, we looked back on her impressive career. It was a warm and sincere tribute to an actress who has left an indelible mark on Dutch film history.
Christmas with CineMusic
A few months earlier, we celebrated Christmas in the theater. For two special Christmas shows, we brought a tailored repertoire, combining the festive atmosphere of December with the magic of film music.
5x The Special
Another highlight was undoubtedly The Special. We brought this unique concert show to the theater no less than five times. This made it the largest edition in the history of CineMusic. With an expanded film orchestra, impressive choral parts, and a repertoire full of iconic film music, thousands of visitors experienced a unique evening where music and film came together.
Expansion at the head office
Behind the scenes, hard work went into the further growth of CineMusic. Our team was expanded with Nathalie Ha, who focuses on marketing and communication. In addition, we could count on the dedication of Valentijn, Rebecca, and Mirjam, who interned within our organization. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment made a significant contribution to the further development of CineMusic.
CineMusic in the media
In terms of publicity, it was a particularly successful season. Our concerts, special guests, and activities received attention in various national media. For instance, we were featured on Shownieuws and appeared in publications such as De Telegraaf and Privé. This attention helped us introduce even more people to CineMusic and our mission: connecting people through the power of film and music.
We look back on the past theater season with a great feeling. Thanks to everyone who was there, on stage, behind the scenes, or in the audience. Together, we made the 2025-2026 season one we will never forget.
