All first times are special, but no one dared to dream it would be this special. Last Saturday, May 11, The CineMusic Experience took to the stage of the Phil theater for the first time. The concert show was played for the first time to an audience of more than 1,000 people. And the orchestra shared the stage with a concert choir for the first time. These proved to be all the ingredients for a magical evening that ended with minutes of applause.
And there were more firsts. For the first time, arrangements from Disney’s Avatar: The Way of Water and The Little Mermaid were played, and for the first time, the audience enthusiastically swayed to the sounds of the Bolero, while film scenes from Les Uns et Les Autres were shown.
Some audience reactions after the show:
“What a fantastic evening. The addition of the choir is phenomenal.”
“I loved everything. Tears came to my eyes when hearing and seeing How to Train a Dragon. Beautiful!”
“Deeply impressed. Especially by the pieces from Saving Private Ryan and Schindler’s List.”
“We had been to The CineMusic Experience before, but this special was really different. Enjoyed it!”
The great thing about first times is that second times logically follow. And they will! For the new theater season starting in September, there are about 30 performances planned. The CineMusic orchestra and its entourage travel throughout the country to let people hear and feel in the theaters how beautiful film music is. What is special is that this production also shows scenes from all the films, which are cut in such a way that they perfectly match the music. This way you experience more than 20 films in one evening.
The end of the season will be celebrated with The Special, just like last Saturday. Extra efforts will then be made with new arrangements, a choir, and new films. Several Specials are planned for 2025, both in the Phil theater and in Amare in The Hague.
Ticket sales for the theater shows and The Specials have now started. For more information and a theater near you, visit cinemusic.nl.
